One Drive and File Extension

PostPosted by Measure Dynamics » Sat Feb 18, 2017 3:53 pm

The program creates back up and incsave files that contain the "#" in the file name. One Drive will not accept file with this extension. I am trying to centralize my companies file location. Is there a way to change the default file name extensions to remove the # sign?

I've looked thru the settings for Autosave and AQ and have found nothing. I will ask Matt.

Sorry, there isn't a setting for that. I'd have to remove it from the filename in the code. That's odd, # is a valid filename character. I could replace # with _. I don't think that would affect anyone. What version are you running?

I am running the latest version of 12. I gave a link to the list of characters not accepted by One Drive. This is a pain, but otherwise it is helping us streamline out business files system. Every time I work on a file I get a list of errors for each back up file that was created while working in General CADD as they are being rejected by One Drive. Very frustrating. The only other solution would be to create a different file path outside of One Drive for all of my Back ups. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for the help.

I'd be happy to build you a version without the illegal characters in the filename.

Like this...

Before
11232015cat[2015-11-27#132742].gxd

After
11232015cat[2015-11-27_132742].gxd

That would be great and above and beyond. Just to let you know we have never hired an AutoCAD operator that can draft near the speed me and the other owner can using GeneralCAD. Great program. Thanks.

This version replaced # with _ in the Incremental Save filename. Let me know how it works. v12.1.36
