crashing due to 20+mb file size

PostPosted by atlantic cat » Fri Dec 09, 2016 7:53 pm

My GC12 routinely crashes when files get over 20mb in size. I suspect it is running up against some arbitrary limit and that can be increased. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Atlantic Cat,

I hear what you are saying. I get a lot of Crashes when doing a lot of big Hatches in fact I just had one. I do a lot of hatch work to get my drawings looking Pretty especially in color. Lucky for me I know to do a drawing Save before doing any hatch work. This minimizes the problem. If you are having a lot of Crashes save your drawing frequently.

Atlantic Cat,

Another thing you might try is to execute the PD Command. It (Packs Data) Removes all erased objects and used component definitions from the Drawing database.

Just a thought.

Atlantic Cat,

Have you tried DK (Drawing Clean)?
In my case I often import .dwg, .dxf and .gcd files and you'd be surprised how much they bloat your drawings with duplicate data.

Vincent,

Thank you for DK (Drawing Clean) tip. I will try using that command, and see what happens.

I tried both the PD command and the DK command. Then I did some Hatch work and I still had a Crash. To me it is no Problem because I save my Drawings Frequently especially before I do my Hatching. I do not seem to crash any other time only during a hatch that has an error in the poly line.
