Enter IG at the commant prompt and draw a rectangle where you want to insert the image. This will bring up the Load Image dialog box. Click on the default .jpg file type and select .pdf.

Vincent,

Thanks for your help. Loading a PDF into General Cadd is now a cake-walk for me.

Vincent,

I tried your solution and it didn't work for me. When I typed IG and did the box and brought up the "load image" dialogue box and selected .jpg file type, all it would show me were the .jpg files. If I selected all files *.*, and selected the .pdf file, I got error loading file, error code 5, and if I selected .jpg and typed in the right .pdf file, it got that same message. I'm using Genera Cadd 11.1.8. Possibly you are using a later version.

Thanks,

Roofman6,

Type IG, than enter first corner of rectangle than second corner of rectangle where the PDF will be placed.

Than it comes up with on my ver12, Load Image: C:\General Cadd 12\

Files of Type: Mine defaults to (*.PDF) Or you can just select PDF

Than find the PDF file on your computer than you want to load in to GCP and select it.

The PDF should go rite in to the rectangle you selected in GCP.

I hope this is some help to you.

Good Luck,

Patrick,

I have tried that and I don't have an option to load .pdf files. With the command IG, I do get the "load image" thing and the types of files that it will load are the default .JPG, along with .TIF, .GIF, .PNG, .BMP, .WMF, and All Files *.*. No mention of .JPG, and when I type in the actual name of the .JPG file, it tries and produces and error, error 5.
Do you know how you got .PDF files in the list or to become your default image.

Thanks,

Roofman6,

I am using GCP Ver 12.1.27

Maybe your GCP Ver 11.1.8 is a little different.

In my version the PDF Files (*.PDF) is the first selection on the Load Image Screen.

The *.PDF option is not included in V11.
It is included as first item in V12.
From what I can see ...

Is there a workaround that allows the import of a .pdf file into version 11?

Thanks to all,

Roofman,

The "Snip Tool (a Windows utility) allows you to "capture" anything on a screen and save it into various image formats.
