XML Files

PostPosted by eieblen » Fri May 27, 2016 6:51 pm

Hi All,
I am working with Leica survey equipment which has the capability of exporting survey data complete with break lines and symbols on the drawing. The format is an XML file. Is there a way to import this into General Cadd?
Thanks, Earl.

Hi Earl,

Unfortunately there is no way of importing Land XML files into GCP. I've mentioned that to the programmers in the past, but I don't think it will ever happen.

In particular I am trying to get my polylines from my survey data into general cadd. In the load function (LO) there is load AutoCad and DXF under both there is a checkbox for exploding polylines. I have tried checking and unchecking boxes but the polylines always come in as 3d line segments. Is there something I am missing?
Thanks.

I don't think your missing anything-I suggest filing a bug report.

Very impressive Bjorn! I wouldn't expect anything less from you. If I knew how to give 2 thumbs up on this board I'd give you 4 ;-)

Carl, thanks for your kind words.
The file I was using is included in Carlson sample files.
Running the file there I found as I suspected that XY should be YX.
The video I put up has been edited accordingly.

I wanted to find out if GCP macro code was up to the task of parsing the xml file.
The answer I think is YES it can.
So far only Points and Lines have been extracted.
