Linetypes File Error Message

PostPosted by StructuralPE » Thu Feb 18, 2016 10:41 pm

Using ver 12.1.24 and am suddenly getting an error message about linetype files on drawings that I have produced and been working all along in this version.

The message upon opening a drawing states "The drawings linetype file does not match the current line types."
" Current Types <linetypes>"
"New Types <gc6 linetypes>"

Is there a difference and how do I get rid of the reoccurring message?

Another question is how do I set the default linetype for the program?

Yes, I know what you mean. I am getting the same message and I just select yes to continue. Matt from GCP showed me how to get rid of this default message in the settings a while ago, but I forgot how to do it. Matt knows how to get rid of this default message by going in to the many settings in GCP.

We had a problem recently, where our default system Linetype file was being changed by an incoming drawing. Matt added a setting and some warning logic to counter this issue.

A new setting has been added to AQ, LockLinetypeFile, when set to TRUE, will not change Linetype file during drawing load.
If an incoming drawing has a different Linetype than the system, then a warning will popup, giving an explanation and instructions on how to change the Linetype file.

We use GC6Linetypes, created by Milan, as our default type.

You can set your default type in AQ, LinetypeFile - Its 11 items below the LockLinetypeFile setting in AQ.
You can also do an LO,L in a drawing to check the current Linetype List.

Note - Whenever I change system settings in AQ, I do so in a blank drawing and do a Full Environment Save afterwards.

I am currently running V12.1.27, available on DropBox. Matt has done work on LT files in these latest version. Seems to be working correctly now.

To change warning levels, go to AQ, Warnings / Messages section.

Thanks Tom.
My program is only listing 12 ver at .24.
Where is the dropbox access to the update?

Ed - I will get v12.1.27 uploaded this morning. That's a bug that's gone undetected for several years. Tom has struggled with it and until recently I wasn't able to repeat it. We got to the bottom of it and added an AQ setting to lock the linetype file as an added precaution.

[UPDATE]
v12.1.27 uploaded

Thanks.
So if we "lock" the linetype, is that when the message occurs when the conflict arises or is it the unlocked case?
I printed out and compared some of the pages of linetypes from both files and they look the same to me.

With Lock=ON you will still get the message but will not be able to change the linetype file until after the load using the LO,L command
Lock=OFF you will get the warning and allowed to change the linetype file to the incoming drawings linetypes by pressing Yes.

Matt,

Thanks for creating the new Version of GCP 12.1.27 That did the trick as far as the Line type Message not coming on when starting the Program.

Matt,

After loading in the new Version 12.1.27 everything worked well accept for my pre made line types such as fences, bush lines and hedge lines. I was able to fix it be using the LT command and turning off the Use symbolic scale (off). I guess when I loaded in the new version it turned on the use symbolic scale to on.

Rusty,

That makes sense. I should make sure the Symolic linetype settings follow what happens to the linetype file. I'll fix that and upload again. Please test V12.1.28 when it's ready and let me know if I got it.

Thanks,
Matt
