Using gcadd version 5 on windows 7 and 8

PostPosted by tmeinc » Fri Jun 13, 2014 12:51 am

Has anyone been able to use version 5 on computers running windows 7 or 8? I have been using version 5 and it is fully capable for the needs of my small (one man) company. Unfortunately my XP computer quit and I would like to replace it with a machine running windows 7 or 8.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why in the world don't you just fork over the money and get General CADD? The enhanced features increase productivity by a huge amount.

I'm not sure if V5 will work with Win7/8. You could install V5 on a Win7 computer and try it out. The printer button in Setup didn't work in Win7. If that works you should be OK.

Hi there,

Win 8 are touch screen development and it was not recommended to me.
Currently, I run GCP 6 on Win 7 ok with old LPT (printer) dongle.
The catch there was, I was lucky enough to get the last Win 7 64 bits Motherboard still having the old LPT socket !
Never the less, I also purchased other seat as GCP 11+12 and I do run it on the other (second) new computer with dual solid state C drives ok with new USB dongle.

The bottom line was, I lost my old printer with Win XP computer now gone and nearly lost my old dongle, but now I got two seats.
LPT convertors to USB did not work on my old dongle.

You just buy a new Win 7 computer (64 bits) and from there you are welcome to the melee.

Kind Regards Milan

tmeinc,

Are you using Generic CADD V5 or General CADD V5?

I've never had a problem with Version 5 on Windows 7.
